DDIA seeks a communications consultant to support the Executive Director and researchers with turning the outputs of projects, partnerships, and research into engaging internal and external communications products. The consultant will be passionate about democracy and tech, knowledgeable of Latino communities and the Americas, and have experience in communicating products/services in a clear and effective way through short- and long-form video, visual graphics, and more. The consultant will also be deeply detail-oriented.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Communications. Support DDIA’s external communications, including content development through the production of videos, graphics, research summaries, articles, op-eds, press releases, and pitches to media and content creator partners. Oversee updates to the DDIA website and social media channels, as needed, and maintain documents up to date in internal systems.

  • Event Support. Support leadership in planning meetings, including help with invitations, event set-up, and notetaking. This support could include helping to coordinate the execution of onsite, offsite, and virtual events. On occasion, this role may call for providing travel logistics support.

  • Stakeholder Management. Manage lists of stakeholders, media lists, and contact databases. Provide occasional administrative support for the Executive Director, such as scheduling internal and external meetings.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Skills, attributes, and experiences that may be particularly relevant include:

  • Demonstrated interest in the fields of journalism, communications, behavioral research, policy or politics, with some experience with elections-related issues in the U.S. or Latin America. 

  • Experience creating content for social media platforms, including Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok.

  • Strong experience with short-form video production for social media platforms.

  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills, with an ability to translate technical information and research findings into applicable, easy-to-understand outputs for a range of audiences.

  • Proven ability to design and execute structured communication pipelines, spanning pre-launch strategy, launch events and materials, and sustained long-tail content distribution.

  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, and the ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Demonstrated history of proactive attitude and high degree of self-direction; with a history of positively collaborating with high-level principals and diverse audience groups.

  • High degree of adaptability and ability to move in a fast paced, evolving environment.

  • Inclination toward problem-solving, and identifying and generating suggestions for improving processes.

  • At least 3 years of professional experience, and at least an undergraduate degree preferred. Experience working at a startup is a plus.

  • Passion for Latino and Latin American communities, and the issues that most affect us.

  • English fluency required. Spanish fluency is a plus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

DDIA is a national remote office environment with team members located across all continental U.S. time zones. Candidates should be prepared to either work from home or a location of their choosing that is located within the continental United States. This position requires the ability to work core hours Monday through Friday in your local time. This position will require some in-person attendance for events.

COMPENSATION

This is fully remote (USA and/or Latin America). A stipend of $3,000 per month will be offered, for the duration of 4 months. Compensation represents a good faith estimate of what DDIA may pay for this position at the time of posting. Compensation offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as budget availability and commensurate with the selected candidates’ experience. DDIA observes office-wide holiday closures in accordance with the U.S. federal government.
