What is real? - How to Detect Disinformation Panel

As AI-generated videos and deepfakes become more sophisticated, it is getting harder to tell what is real and easier for bad actors to manipulate public opinion, spread disinformation, and target historically and intentionally marginalized communities.

In the latest episode of the YouTube series, Building Community, the National Hispanic Media Coalition (NHMC) and the Spanish Language Disinformation Coalition (SLDC) bring together policy experts, researchers, and community voices to break down how disinformation-generated videos work, how to spot the warning signs, and what is at stake for our democracy and our communities.

The conversation is led by Daiquiri Ryan Mercado, Esq., Director of Advocacy at NHMC, with Roberta Braga, Executive Director, Digital Democracy Institute of the Americas (DDIA) & Danielle Davis Canty, Esq., Director of Technology Policy, The Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies, and host of The Miseducation of Technology Podcast grounding the conversation around accountability, media literacy, and community resilience in the age of disinformation online.
